Blue Pearl

The iridescence actually shows up in a dark kitchen

I thought Blue Pearl was going to look grey in our cloudy light. Under the island pendants the labradorite flash is real. Neighbors keep touching it which is weird but I’ll take it. Booked through the Houston desk, arrived in Tacoma without a mark.

Afyon Sugar

Bright without being icy

Afyon Sugar on a hotel corridor and the vanity tops in the suites. It throws light down the hall which is what the architect wanted. Not that dead hospital white. Crates opened clean in Nashville. I’ll take that every time.

Coastal Gray

Spa floor that doesn’t fight the architecture

Coastal Gray on spa floors and a wall wrap. The white web stays in the background so the room can do the talking. Honed, so you’re not staring at every grout joint the way you do with cheap grey. RFQ came back in one round. Rare.

Dark Olive

Bathroom doesn’t look like a showroom clone

Honed 2cm, shower walls and the vanity top. Color holds in daylight AND under the downlights, which is the thing I was nervous about with a dark green. Grout doesn’t shout. Husband was sure we’d hate it in six months. He was wrong.

Astra White

Stone is great. Freight took longer than I told my client.

GC. Material itself is solid — no chips, polish matched the sample we held on site. We sat almost three weeks after the container hit Houston waiting on the last truck. Not a disaster, but I burned a buffer I didn’t have. Flag that earlier next time and it’s five stars.

Houston desk

Tom — fair note. Inland slots after Houston are the bottleneck; we’ll put the truck window on the quote so you’re not guessing with the client.

Crema Alexandra

Builder-grade budget, not builder-grade look

Spec’d Crema Alexandra across 14 production bathrooms. Consistent enough that we weren’t remixing every van. Punch list was normal, not stone-related. Purchasing liked the number. I liked that it didn’t look like beige laminate from 2009.

Nero Marquina

More white than the sample we signed

Sample chip was a deep black with a thin line. The slabs we got had a lot more calcite. Still a handsome stone, and we used it, but I had an awkward call with the owner. Next time I want the bundle photos in the PO, not after.

Houston desk

Derek — you’re right. Nero moves lot to lot. We’ll attach the bundle set to the quote before you lock the PO so nobody is surprised on the dock.

Astra White

Kitchen came out warmer than I expected

We used Astra White on a 22-foot island and the backsplash. I was worried it would feel sterile — in the house, with 2700K pendants, it actually reads soft. A couple of the slabs had more grey than the photo on the site, which I liked once they were in. Shop sent us the actual bundle photos before we signed off. That saved us.

Houston desk

Elena — glad the 2700K read the way you wanted. We keep those bundle photos on file if you need another cut later.

Emperador Dark

Rich brown. Watch the fill.

Emperador on a powder and a fireplace hearth. Color is gorgeous — that deep brown with the white web. A few filled pits showed under raking light on the hearth. We honed it and they calmed down. I’d still pick it, just budget a little shop time.

Movement is real — order a spare

Dining table program plus a small lobby feature. The gold vein is actual stone, not that printed quartz look. Client loved it. We dry-laid in the shop and only remade one panel. I should have bought one extra slab for repairs. That’s on me. Lot was tight.

Nero Marquina

Fireplace surround finally looks finished

Nero on a fireplace and the powder threshold. White veins landed pretty close to the drawings, which I did not expect. Packed well — nothing chipped after the ocean. We’re quoting it again for a hotel corridor.

Coastal Gray

Nice grey. A bit cooler in person.

Used it in a Lincoln Park kitchen. Photos online looked a touch warmer than what showed up. Not a dealbreaker — still a calm floor — but if you’re matching cabinets, look at the actual slab photos, not the hero shot. Desk did send those when I asked.
